NSEASI extends decline, closes 0.79% lower, Wednesday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed in red as the All Share Index extends decline from its previous trading session on Tuesday, closing at 32,454.03 points, which is a decline of 0.79% from the previous close of 32,711.65 points.

Market capitalisation declined by 0.79% to close at N11.848 trillion from the previous close of  N11.942 trillion, thereby shedding about N94 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks declined by 25.93% and 57.72% to close at 136.73 million units and N1.43billion respectively.

Market Breadth

The market breath closed positive as 15 stocks gained against 14 stocks that lost.

Percentage Gainers

Diamond Bank led other percentage gainers, gaining 5.08% to close at N1.24 from the previous close of N1.18

Cutix Plc and Dangote Sugar grew 4.88% and 4.32% respectively among others on the gainers’ chart.

Percentage Losers

Niger Insurance Plc tops the losers’ chart, both shedding 8.82% to close at N0.31 from the previous close of N0.34

Mutual Benefit Assurance and Sovereign Trust Insurance also shed 7.14% and 4.35% respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

  • UBA traded about 20.8 million units of its shares in 186 deals, valued at about N172.5 million
  • FCMB traded about 38.38million units of its shares in 116 deals, valued at about N65.7 million
