The equity market on Monday closed in red, occasioned by losses in the share prices of BUA Cement and MTN by 1.16% and 1.05% respectively.
The All Share Index depreciated by 0.44% to settle at 39,306.47 points from the previous close of 39,481.89 points. The market capitalization declined by 0.45% to close at N20.487 trillion from the previous close of N20.579 trillion, thereby shedding N92 billion.
An aggregate of 357.69 million units of shares were traded in 4,394 deals, valued at N3.56 billion.
The Market Breadth closed positive as 22 equities appreciated in their share prices against 14 equities that declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers
- Eterna Plc led other gainers with 9.85% growth, closing at N7.25 from the previous close of N6.6.
- Royal Exchange and Capital Hotel among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.21% and 9.09% respectively.
Percentage Losers
- Nigerian Enamelware Plc led other price decliners as it shed its share price by 9.80% to close at N17.95 from the previous close of N19.90.
- Africa Prudential Plc and NPF Microfinance Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.92% and 6.42% respectively.
Volume Drivers
- Zenith Bank traded about 52.676 million units of its shares in 538 deal, valued at N1.247 billion.
- FBNH traded about 42.47 million units of its shares in 223 deals, valued at N307 million.
- NEM Insurance traded about 39.45 million units of its shares in 22 deals, valued at about N88.65 million.
