Market closes flat amidst price surge in 17 equities

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday closed flat as the All Share Index closed at 37,857.24 points from the previous close of 37,857.89 points, hence there is no significant change.

The Market Capitalisation declined marginally by 0.01% to close at N19.724 trillion from the previous close of N19.725 trillion, thereby shedding N1 billion.

An aggregate of 197.28 million units of shares were traded in 3,567 deals, valued at N1.92 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 17 equities appreciated in their share prices against 13 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

NCR Nigeria led other gainers with 9.64% growth, closing at N2.73 from the previous close of N2.49.

Wema Bank and FTN Cocoa among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.46%, and 8.33% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Ikeja Hotel led other price decliners as it shed 9.09% of its share price to close at N1.40 from the previous close of N1.54.

Custodian Investment and Japaul Gold among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.15% and 5.66% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Wema Bank traded about 37.2 million units of its shares in 100 deals, valued at N28.06 million.

Guaranty Trust Holdings traded about 27.91 million units of its shares in 310 deals valued at N823 million.

UDPC traded about 13.85 million units of its shares in 119 deals, valued at N19.56 million.
