The stock market on Monday closed on a positive note as High CAPS stocks including BUA Cement and MTN grew their share prices by 2.78% and 0.99% respectively.
The All Share Index appreciated by 0.47% to settle at 38,437.88 points from the previous close of 38,256.99 points. Investors gained N95 billion as market capitalization grew by 0.48% to N20.035 trillion from the previous close of N19.940 trillion.
Month to date, the market returned -3.51% and year to date, the market has returned -4.55%.
An aggregate of 201.86 million units of shares were traded in 3,827 deals, valued at N2.12 billion.
The Market Breadth closed negative as 17 equities appreciated in their share prices against 23 equities that declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers
- MRS led other gainers with 9.57% growth to close at N12.6 from the previous close of N11.50.
- Vitafoam and Chams Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.91% and 5.00% respectively.
Percentage Losers
- Royal Exchange Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.88% of its share price to close at N0.73 from the previous close of N0.81.
- Consolidated Hallmark Insurance, Neimeth and Mutual Benefit Assurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.59%, 8.51% and 8.33% respectively.
Volume Drivers
- Veritas Kapital Assurance traded about 29.78 million units of its shares in 18 deals, valued at about N5.96 million.
- Fidelity Bank traded about 24.47 million units of its shares in 113 deals, valued at N54.17 million.
