President Muhammadu Buhari, according to several media reports has nominated Edward Lamatek Adamu as CBN Deputy Governor.
Prior to his appointment, he was Director, Human Resources. He replaces Mr Suleiman Barau who retired last month. His appointment is however subject to confirmation by the Senate.
From June 1992 to January 2007, Adamu worked as the Project Manager to the Assistant Director Central Bank of Nigeria. He then worked for the Gombe State government between February 2008 and May 2010 as the Head, Budget Monitoring and Procurement Unit.
He then returned to the CBN, where he served as Deputy Director Projects from February 2011 to March 2012. In April 2012, he was appointed Director, Strategy Management, a position he held till March 2016 when he was appointed Director, Human Resources.
Lamatek Adamu graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University in 1981 with a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Survey. He has also done several courses at the Wharton School, University of Pennysylvania in 2012, Centre for Creative Leadership, San Diego in 2013.
Adamu also attended the Strategic Execution Programme at INSEAD between 2013 and 2014, and again the University of Pennysylvania’s Executive Leadership Programme in 2016. In 2016, he also obtained a certificate in organizational Learning from the IMD Business School.
