Gains in Dangote Cement, 12 others help Nigerian Bourse stay 0.70% afloat, Thursday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed in green as the All Share Index grew by 0.70% to close at 32,664.63 points from the previous close of 32,437.35 points on Wednesday.

Market capitalisation grew by 0.70%, closing at N11.925 trillion as against the previous close N11.842trillion, implying a gain of N83 billion

Volume of traded stocks declined by 27.89% to close at 173.63 million units from the previous close of 240.76 million units.

Value of traded stocks grew by 2.76% to close at N3.76 billion as against the previous close of N3.66 billion

Market Breadth

13 stocks gained while 22 stocks lost bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

Law Union & Rock Insurance tops the percentage gainers’ chart, gaining 6.38% to close at N0.50 from the previous close of N0.47.

Prestige Assurance also gained 6.12% to close at N0.52 from the previous close of N0.49

Dangote Cement, the most capitalized stock on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed at N206 from the previous close of N200, thereby gaining N6. Other heavy weight stocks that gained include Nigerian Breweries, CAP, Zenith Bank and FBNH among others.

Percentage Losers

Vitafoam tops the losers’ chart losing 10.00% of its share price, while C&I Leasing and UAC Property shed 9.67%, and 9.44% respectively.

Volume Driver

Zenith Bank traded about 54.81million units of its shares in 164 deals, valued at about N2.02 billion.
