Skye Bank led 8 other gainers despite market decline of 0.84%, Thursday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed in red as the All Share Index declined further by 0.84%, closing at 32,022.23 points from the previous close of 32,292.79 points on Wednesday.

Market capitalisation also declined by 0.83% to settle at N11.691 trillion as against the previous close of N11.789 trillion on Wednesday

Other market indicators also declined as the total traded volume and value of shares dropped by 29.71% and 46.44%, settling at 173.55 million units and N3.712 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 9 stocks gained while 26 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Skye Bank led other percentage gainers, closing 9.84% above its previous close of N0.61 to settle at N0.67. Unity Bank grew 8.97% to close at N0.85 from the previous close of N0.78.

Transcorp grew 4.63%,  LASACO and Wema Bank grew 3.33% respectively. Other stocks on the gainers’ chart include Fidelity Bank, UBA, Guaranty Trust Bank and Nigerian Breweries gaining 3.31%, 1.42%, 1.07% and 0.12% respectively.

Percentage Losers

WAPCO tops the losers’ chart losing 10.00% of its share price. Conoil and CCNN shed 9.88% and 9.87respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers

  • Dangote Cement traded about 4.92 million units of its shares valued at N1.03 billion in 41 deals.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 28.2 million units of its shares in 188 deals, valued at N929.76 million
  • Zenith Bank traded about 25.86 million units of its shares in 275 deals, valued at N514.6 million
