Nigerian Bourse sheds N70bn, closes lower by 0.54%

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.54% to settle at 24,650.16 points from the previous close of 24,783.61 points.

Market capitalization declined by 0.54% to close at N12.859 trillion from the previous close of N12.929 trillion, thereby shedding N70 billion.

An aggregate of 150.4 million units of shares were traded in 3,780 deals, valued at N1.98 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 14 equities appreciated in their share prices against 17 equities that declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Berger Paints and Mutual Benefit Assurance led other gainers with 10% growth to close at N6.05 and N0.22 respectively.

Unity Bank, Okomu Oil and Oando among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.77%, 6.31% and 5.58% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Total Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.95% of its share price to close at N87.80 from the previous close of N97.50.

Seplat, NPF Microfinance Bank and UACN among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.82%, 7.75% and 6.85% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Mutual Benefit Assurance traded about 26.92 million units of its shares in 40 deals, valued at about N5.56 million.
  • FBNH traded about 17.04 million units of its shares in 254 deals, valued at N84.16 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 11.24 million units of its shares in 161 deals, valued at N69.8 million.
