Stock market stays 0.27% afloat, buoyed by gains in MTN and 38 other stocks

The Nigerian Bourse stayed afloat on price appreciation in 39 stocks that made the green table on Wednesday, making it three straight gains in the week.

The All Share Index grew 0.27%, closing at 111,902.61 points from the previous close of 111,606.22

Market capitalisation closed at N70.564 trillion up by 0.27% from the previous close of N70.377 trillion, adding N187 billion.

An aggregate of 512 million units of shares were traded in 16,711 deals, valued at N17 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 39 stocks gained against 28 stocks that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

University Press and LEARNAFRICA led other gainers, closing at 10.00% each above their previous closes of N5.10 to settle at N4.10.

Northern Nigerian Flourmills, Honeywell Flour, Royal OMATEK also closed the day above 9.80% of their previous share prices

Percentage Losers

Academy Press led decliners’ table shedding 10.00% of its share price to close at N 4.05 from the previous close of N4.50.

ABBEY BUILDING, SKY AVIATION and ENAMELWA shed 9.96%, 9.94% and 9.88% respectively

Volume Drivers

Fidelity Bank traded about 48 million units of its shares in 638 deals, valued at about N883.6 million.

CUSTODIAN traded about 37 million units of its shares in 157 deals, worth about N756 million.

GTCO traded about 30 million units of its shares in 552 deals, valued at about N2 billion
