Stock market sheds N290bn in one week, down by 0.52%

The Nigerian stock market last week closed lower as 53 stocks shed weight. The All Share Index and Market Capitalization dropped by 0.52% to settle at 97,612.51 and N55.218 trillion respectively.

An aggregate of 1.986 billion units of shares were traded in 38,487 deals, valued at N40.715 billion.

The market breadth closed negative as 24 stocks gained against 53 stocks that declined in their share prices.

TOP 10 GAINERS

Berger Paint led other gainers in the course of last week with 20.65% growth, closing at N19.14 from the previous close of N12.35.

Regency Alliance, CUTIX, MCNICHOLS and NESTLE grew their share prices by 19.35%, 10.20%, 10.00% and 9.76% respectively.

Other among the top 10 gainers include: Julius Berger 7.19%, MRS 6.98%, University Press 6.98%, Africa Prudential 6.11% and WAPCO 4.48 respectively.

TOP 10 LOSERS

DEAPCAP led other price decliners, shedding 24.53% of its share price to close at N0.40 from the previous close of 0.53.

FTN Cocoa, TRANSCORP, UBA and UPDC shed 16.67%, 12.13%, 12.13% and 11.43% respectively.

Other price decliners include: FBNH (10.89%), Mutual Benefits (10.34%), Ecobank (9.98%), MULTIVERSE (9.82%) and Sky Aviation (9.80%) respectively.
