Stock market opens the week bullish amidst renewed buy interest, rises by 0.24%

The Nigerian stock market on Monday closed on a positive note as the All Shares Index grew by 0.24% to close at 48,270.23 points from the previous close of 48,154.65 points.

Investors gained N62 billion as the Market Capitalisation grew by 0.24% to close at N26.291 trillion from the previous close of N26.229 trillion.

An aggregate of 645 million units of shares were traded in 3,486 deals, valued at N4.19 billion.

The market breadth closed positive as 19 equities emerged as gainers against 16 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Guinness led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N69.3 from the previous close of N63.

Eterna Plc and Royal Exchange among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.78% and 8.33% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Geregu Power led other price decliners, shedding 9.85% of its share price, closing at N110.7 from the previous close of N122.8.

SCOA and Thomas Wyatt among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.43% and 9.09%.

Volume Drivers

  • FBNH traded about 83.79 million units of its shares in 97 deals, valued at N921.73 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 11.51 million units of its shares in 263 deals, valued at N258.54 million.
  • Transcorp traded about 10.46 million units of its shares in 52 deals, valued at N12.3 million
