Stock market gains N1.25tn in one week, returns 1.42% WoW

The Nigerian stocks market closed higher last week, driven by appreciation in the prices of BUAFOOD, OKOMU OIL, MTN Nigeria and other 79 stocks led by Insurance companies as the All Share Index and Market capitalization rose by 1.42% and 2.03% to settle at 103,586.33 and N63.166 trillion respectively.

An aggregate of 2.6 billion units of shares were traded in 47,953 deals, valued at N69.7 billion.

The market breadth closed positive as 82 stocks gained against 18 stocks that declined in their share prices.

TOP 10 GAINERS

Prestige Insurance led other gainers in the course of last week with 46.00% growth, closing at N1.46 from the previous close of N1.00.

NEIMETH, Sovereign Trust Insurance, WAPIC and Universal Insurance grew their share prices by 45.26%, 45.16%, 44.92% and 43.64% respectively.

Other top 10 gainers include: TANTALIZER 43.60%, Guinea Insurance 42.65%, Consolidated Halmark Holdings 39.86%, Cornerstone Insurance 33.03% and Royal Exchange 32.97% respectively.

TOP 10 LOSERS

PZ led other price decliners, shedding 13.79% of its share price to close at N25.00 from the previous close of 29.00.

CWG, UNIONDICON, NGXGROUP and CADBURY shed 10.83%, 10.00%, 9.17% and 6.52% respectively.

Other price decliners include: TOTAL (6.51%), ETERNA OIL (6.32%), OANDO (4.23%), ABC Transportation (4.07%) and Dangote Sugar (3.82%) respectively.
