Stock market extends down trend by 0.70%

It was yet another bearish session on the floor of the Nigerian stock market on Friday as downtrend extended on profit taking by investors.

The All Share Index dropped by 0.70% to close at 49,664.07 points from the previous close of 50,014.60 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.70% to close at N26.787 trillion from the previous close of N26.976 trillion, thereby shedding N189 billion.

An aggregate of 750 million units of shares were traded in 4,076 deals, valued at N5 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 19 equities emerged as gainers against 24 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

BUAFOOD led other gainers with 10.00% growth to close at N59.95 from the previous close of 54.50.

Nem Insurance and COURTVILLE among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.98% and 9.80% respectively.

Percentage Losers

BUACEMENT led other price decliners as it shed 9.95% of its share price to close at N52.95 from the previous close of N58.80.

CHAMS and CUTIX among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.68% and 8.89% respectively.

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 30.5 million units of its shares in 158 deals, valued at N333 billion.

UBA traded about 13 million units of its shares in 205 deals, valued at N92.7million.

Zenith Bank traded about 9.7 million units of its shares in 312 deals, valued at N207 million.
