The equity market for five consecutive days this week closed on a bearish note occasioned by profit taking in heavy weight stocks which includes Dangote Cement, MTN, Airtel and BUA Cement.
The All Share Index on Friday declined marginally by 0.01% to close at 38,324.07 points from the previous close of 38,328.13 points. The market capitalization depreciated by 0.02% to close at N19.975 trillion from the previous close of N19.978 trillion, thereby shedding N3 billion.
An aggregate of 174.3 million units of shares were traded in 2,581 deals, valued at N1.95 billion.
The Market Breadth closed firm as 16 equities appreciated in their share prices against 16 equities that declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers
- Prestige Assurance led other gainers with 8.16% growth to close at N0.53 from the previous close of N0.49.
- Coronation Insurance and NPF Microfinance Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8% and 7.23% respectively.
Percentage Losers
- C&I Leasing led other price decliners as it shed 9.78% of its share price to close at N4.06 from the previous close of N4.50.
- Chams Plc and Julius Berger among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.09% and 9.05% respectively.
Volume Drivers
- Chams Plc traded about 36.9 million units of its shares in 28 deals, valued at N7.399 million.
- UACN traded about 25 million units of its shares in 75 deals, valued at N264.99 million.
- BUA Cement traded about 10.26 million units of its shares in 26 deals, valued at about N761.45 million.
