Stock market declines, closes 0.34% lower, Monday

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday, closed negative as the All Share Index dropped by 0.34% to close at 37,266.86 points as against 37,392.77 points last Friday.

Market capitalisation declined 0.34% to close closed at N13.500 trillion as against previous close of 13.546 trillion, shedding about N82 billion.

Volume of traded stocks appreciated by 42.56% while and value declined by 36.96% closing at 303.479 million units and N2.04 billion respectively.

8 stocks closed positive against 32 that lost bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

NAHCO led other percentage gainers, closing 9.97% above the previous close of N3.71 to settle at N4.08.

Sovereign Trust Insurance and LASACO also grew 8.70% and 5.88% respectively ahead other stocks on the gainers’ chart.

Percentage Losers

MULTITREX, UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust, Learn Africa, PZ and WEMA Bank equally shed 10% of their share prices, leading the percentage losers’ chart. Custodian Investment and Neimeth also shed 9.97 and 9.62% respectively.

Volume Drivers

The most actively traded stock for the day is FBNH, trading about 42.87million units of its shares, valued at about N445.84 million in 329 deals.
