Stock market declines by 1.46% as Dangote Cement sheds weight

Nigerian stock market on Tuesday declined as Dangote Cement and other 38 stocks shed weight

The All Share Index dropped by 1.46% to close at 142,613.47 points from the previous close of 144,722.47 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 1.46% to close at N90.227 trillion from the previous close of N91.561 trillion, thereby shedding N296 billion.

An aggregate of 1 billion units of shares were traded in 34,352 deals, valued at N17.7 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 26 equities emerged as gainers against 39 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

ENAMELWA led other gainers with 9.95% growth to close at N35.90 from N32.65 in the previous session.

DAARCOMMUNICATION, DEAPCAP and Academy Press among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.82%, 9.80% and 8.43% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Royal Exchange led other price decliners as it shed 10.00% of its share price to close at N2.52 from the previous close of N2.80.

Dangote Cement and RTBRISCOE among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.88% and 9.87% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Universal Insurance traded about 130 million units of its shares in 602 deals, valued at N173.6 million.

AIICO Insurance traded about 100 million units of its shares in 1,705 deals, valued at N435 million.

Mutual Benefits traded about 69 million units of its shares in 854 deals, valued at N311 million.
