Stock market declines by 0.30% on profit taking

Tuesday’s trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian stock market closed bearish on sell-off in 35 stocks.

The All Share Index declined by 0.30% to close at 114,910.16 points from the previous close of 115,258.77 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.25% to close at N72.497 trillion from the previous close of N72.680 trillion, thereby shedding N 183 billion.

An aggregate of 787 million units of shares were traded in 23,170 deals, valued at about N25.7 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 29 equities emerged as gainers against 35 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Mutual Benefits, C & I LEASING and LEARNAFRICA led other gainers with 10.00% growth each to close at N1.10, N4.62 and N4.18 respectively.

University Press, DEAPCAP and Living Trust among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.82%, 8.64% and 8.39% respectively.

Percentage Losers

TRASNSCORP POWER, OANDO and ELLALEKES led other price decliners as they shed 9.98%, 9.97% and 9.87% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Zenith Bank traded about 96 million units of its shares in 2,020 deals, valued at N4 billion.

GTCO traded about 83 million units of its shares in 1,044 deals, valued at N6 billion.

UBA traded about 65 million units of its shares in 1,649 deals, valued at N2 billion.
