Stock market closes lower by 0.06% amidst profit taking

The Nigerian stock market on Wednesday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index declined by 0.06% to close at 41,789.59 points from the previous close of 41,814.94 points.  

The Market Capitalisation closed at N21.809 trillion, down by 0.05% from the previous close of N21.821 trillion, thereby shedding N12 billion.

An aggregate of 284.6 million units of shares were traded in 5,036 deals, valued at N3.2 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 24 equities emerged as gainers against 15 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Living Trust Mortgage Bank led other price decliners with 9.59% growth, closing at N0.80 and N0.73 respectively.

AIICO Insurance and University Press among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.57% and 9.09% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Glaxo Smithkline led other price decliners as it sheds 10% of its share price to close at N6.3 from the previous close of N7.

Transcorp Hotel and FBNH among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.88% and 6.05% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 75.46 million units of its shares in 635 deals, valued at N898 million.

AIICO Insurance traded about 18.42 million units of its shares in 117 deals, valued at N17.81 million.

Ecobank traded about 17.32 million units of its shares in 207 deals, valued at N137.32 million.
