Stock market closes 0.25% higher on the first trading day of the year

The Nigerian stock market on Thursday closed higher on the first trading day in the year 2025 as the All Share Index grew by 0.25% to close at 103,180.13 points from the previous close of 102,926.40 points.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.25% to close at N62.918 trillion from the previous close of N62.763 trillion, thereby gaining N155 billion.

An aggregate of 829 million units of shares were traded in 11,752 deals, valued at N5.67 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 58 equities emerged as gainers against 8 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

International Energy Insurance, Royal Exchange, MANSARD, CUTIX, NCR, RTBRISCOE and Cornerstone Insurance led other gainers with 10.00% growth each.

African Prudential, Prestige Assurance and CAVERTON among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.98%, 9.92%, and 9.91%respectively.

Percentage Losers

ELLALAKES led other price decliners as it sheds 4.75% of its share price to close at N3.01 from the previous close of N3.16.

NASCON and CWG among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 4.31% and 3.25% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Royal Exchange traded about 291 million units of its shares in 154 deals, valued at N318.6 million.

CHAMS traded about 64 million units of its shares in 329 deals, valued at N130 million.

AIICO Insurance traded about 59 million units of its shares in 183 deals, valued at N90.8 million.
