Stock market advances by 1.46% WtD, market capitalization increases by N966bn

The Nigerian stock market last week closed higher, driven by gains in the prices of NESTLE, MTN and other 60 stocks that appreciated week today.

The All Share Index and Market capitalization grew by 1.46% and 1.47% to settle at 105,752.61 and N66.465 trillion respectively.

An aggregate of 1.85 billion units of shares were traded in 51,386 deals, valued at N56 billion.

The market breadth closed positive as 62 stocks gained against 27 stocks that declined in their share prices.

TOP 10 GAINERS

International Breweries led other gainers last week with 40.00% growth, closing at N7.70 from the previous close of N5.50.

NASCON, African Prudential, VITAFOAM and Ikeja Hotel grew their share prices by 26.22%, 25.64%, 21.22% and 22.00% respectively.

Other top 10 gainers include: CADBURY 20.91%, ETERNA OIL 20.91%, LEARNAFRICA 19.69%, SMURFIT 19.05% and UCAP 18.57% respectively.

TOP 10 LOSERS

VFDGROUP led other price decliners, shedding 82.19% of its share price to close at N17.10 from the previous close of N96.00.

JOHNHOLT, TRIPPLEG, Dangote Cement and HMCALL shed 18.60%, 10.00%, 10.00% and 9.96% respectively.

Other price decliners include: MRS (9.95%), MULTIVERSE (9.83%), AUSTINLAZ (9.57%), International Energy Insurance (6.76%) and TOTAL (5.37%) respectively.
