Stock market advances by 0.18%, investors gain N40bn

The Nigerian stock market on Friday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index appreciated by 0.18% to close at 42,038.6 points from the previous close of 41,961.14 points.  

Investors gained N40 billion as the Market Capitalisation grew by 0.18% to close at N21.938 trillion from the previous close of N21.898 trillion.

An aggregate of 1.13 billion units of shares were traded in 5,458 deals, valued at N13.78 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 32 equities emerged as gainers against 19 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Guinness led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N36.3 from the previous close of N33.

Custodian, AIICO Insurance and University Press also grew their share prices by 9.74%, 9.73% and 9.60%.

Percentage Losers

Regency Assurance led other price decliners as it sheds 9.76% of its share price to close at N0.37 from the previous close of N0.41.

CWG and Sovereign Trust Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.6% and 8.33% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

FBNH traded about 56.98 million units of its shares in 441 deals, valued at N645.12 million.

Transcorp traded about 27.94 million units of its shares in 167 deals, valued at N29.78 million.

Wema Bank traded about 23.53 million units of its shares in 107 deals, valued at N18.51 million.
