PENCOM concludes arrangement to verify prospective retirees

The acting Director-General of National Pension Commission, Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar on Thursday in Kano stated the Commission has concluded arrangement for the verification of prospective retirees for the year 2020.

Mrs. Dahir-Umar who spoke through the Assistant General Manager of PENCOM, Malami Bunza, during a Pre-retirement workshop organized for Federal Civil Servants due to retire in 2020, the verification exercise is scheduled to hold from July 1 to August 2 in 15 centres across the country.

According to her, “the forthcoming exercise, therefore, necessitated the need to undertake adequate sensitization and public enlightenment in order to prepare prospective retirees on the steps to take towards a hitch-free retirement life.”

She added that during the workshop, three topics will be presented which include: Enrolment Exercise and Documentation Requirements, Accessing Retirement under the CPS and Life in Retirement. “It is our hope that the workshop would inform participants on what they need  to know on documentation requirements, payments of retirement benefits and best ways to enjoy life in retirement.

“We are therefore, looking forward to fruitful deliberations at this workshop and feel free to make suggestions during and after these workshops about issues that may further help to make retirement life more comfortable to you and future retirees,” she added.

However, the Commission has also announced that the 2019 Pre-retirement workshop for prospective retirees in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), will hold between June 17 and June 25. The workshop is designed to educate the prospective retirees on the modalities for accessing retirement benefits under the CPS.

The centres scheduled for the exercise include Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Port-Harcourt, Illorin, Gombe, Bauchi, Owerri, Sokoto, Enugu, Lokoja, Ibadan, Lafia, Benin, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa
