NIN/SIM Linkage: Suspended active subscribers contributes 8% of total revenue- Airtel Africa

Airtel Africa has provided an update on the NIN/SIM registrations process in Nigeria.

The telecom giant revealed that outgoing voice revenues for those active subscribers who have not yet linked their NIN with their SIM amount to around 8% of total revenues from Nigeria, and around 3% of total revenues for the Group.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had instructed Telecoms to bar outgoing voice calls of all SIMs that have not been linked to a NIN With effect from 4 April 2022.

Many affected subscribers stormed the offices of Telecommunication Companies in order to restore their SIMs back to active service.

Airtel Africa has assured their customers to work closely with the regulator and make every effort to minimise disruption and ensure affected customers can continue to benefit from full service connectivity as soon as possible. This is in line with the company’s aim to drive increased connectivity and digital inclusion across Nigeria.
