Nigerian Stock Market soars by 2.88%, gains N372bn

It appears the Bull has knocked out the Bear from the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. For four straight trading days, the Nigerian Stock Market has been on the upward trend. On Tuesday the All Share Index soared by 2.88% to close at 30,218.14 points from the previous close of 29,374.47 points on Monday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.310 trillion, gaining N372 billion from the previous close of N12.938 trillion on Monday.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 335.6 million units, valued at N17.19 billion in 4,453 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 16 stocks gained, while 20 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

MTN Nigeria with 9.98% growth led other gainers to close at N131.7 from the previous close of N119.75.

Africa Prudential Plc, Thomas Wyatt, Forte Oil and Courtville Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.44%, 8.82%, 8.81% and 8.70% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Livestock Feeds, Juli Plc and Afromedia Plc among other price decliners shed their share prices by 10%, 9.58% and 8.89% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • MTN Nigeria traded about 110.72 million units of its shares, in 292 deals, valued at N14.58 billion.
