Nigerian stock market declines, closes 0.78% lower, Wednesday

The Nigerian Bourse on Wednesday dropped from the previous session as the All Share Index depreciated by 0.78% to close at 31,969.79 points as against 32,222.24 points of the last trading session.

Market capitalization declined by 0.79% to settle at N11.671 trillion as against N11.764 trillion of the last trading, indicating a loss of N93 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks grew by 60.53% and 95.04% to settle at N237.7 million and N3.5 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

10 stocks closed positive against 22 that lost bringing the market breadth to a negative round off.

Percentage Gainers

11 PLC (Mobile) led other percentage gainers closing 10.00% above the previous close of N150.00, to settle at N165.00

Prestige Assurance grew 9.84%, UNIONDAC and VERITAS KAPITAL grew 8.70% each ahead of other stocks on the gainers’ category.

Percentage Losers

Unity Bank tops the losers’ chart losing 8.60% of its share price.

This is followed by Jaiz Bank, WAPCO and PRESCO, all shedding 8.16%, 6.25% and 6.19% respectively.

Volume Drivers 

Zenith Bank traded about 23 million units of its shares in 286 deals, worth about N577.5 million while Guaranty traded about 21 million units of its shares in 338 deals, valued at about N759.5 million
