Nigerian Bourse sheds N49bn, closes lower by 0.39%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.39% to settle at 23,950.83 points against the previous close of 24,045.40 points last week Friday.

Market Capitalisation likewise dropped by 0.39% to close at N12.482 trillion from the previous close of N12.531 trillion, thereby shedding N49 billion.

Aggregate volume of 207.25 million units of shares were traded in 4,460 deals, valued at N1.78 billion.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 14 equities appreciated in their share prices while 12 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

 

Unilever Nigeria Plc led other percentage gainers with 10% growth, closing at N11.55 from the previous close of N10.50.

MCNICHOLS, Jaiz Bank and Eterna Plc among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.52%, 9.09% and 7.87% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

CAP Plc led other price decliners, shedding 9.83% of its share price to close at N20.65 from the previous close of N22.90.

Wapic Insurance, UAC Properties and Union Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.09%, 8.70% and 8.57% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings ( FBNH) traded about 44.11 million units of its shares in 313 deals, valued at N207.57 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 27.69 million units of its shares in 454 deals, valued at N585.02 million.
