Nigerian Bourse sheds N38bn, closes lower by 0.29%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.29% to settle at 24,753.92 points against the previous close of 24,826.75 points on Friday.

Market Capitalisation closed at N12.913 trillion, down by 0.29% from the previous close of N12.951 trillion, thereby shedding N38 billion.

An aggregate of 124.69 million units of shares were traded in 3,843 deals, valued at N1.3 billion.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 11 equities gained while 26 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

Japaul Oil led other percentage gainers with 8.70% growth, closing at N0.25 from the previous close of N0.23.

Nestle, Fidson and Sterling Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 7.72%, 7.49% and 6.67% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Neimeth Pharmaceuticals led other price decliners as it shed 9.74% of its share price to close at N1.39 from the previous close of N1.54.

Cutix Plc shed 9.09% of its share price to close at N1.60 from the previous close of N1.76.

Honeywell Flour and Stanbic IBTC among other price decliners both shed 8.33% of their share prices respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Japaul Oil traded 13.61 million units of its shares in 55 deals, valued at N3.3 million.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded 11.35 million units of its shares in 316 deals, valued at N260.46 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 10.43 million units of its shares in 363 deals, valued at N168.81 million.
