Nigerian Bourse sheds N27bn, closes 0.20% lower

The Nigerian stock market on Wednesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.20% to close at 28,088.74 points against the previous close of 28,144.87 points on Tuesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.689 trillion, shedding N27 billion from the previous close of N13.716 trillion

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 157.79 million units, valued at N2.52 billion in 3,253 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed firm as 16 stocks gained against 16 stocks that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Japaul Oil with 10% growth led other gainers to close at N0.22 from the previous close of N0.20.

BOCGAS, C&I Leasing and Seplat among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.98%, 9.89% and 9.38% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Unity Bank led the losers’ list, shedding 9.38% of its share price to close at N0.58 from the previous close of N0.64.

Prestige Assurance, Sovereign Trust Insurance, Jaiz Bank Plc and UACN among other price decliners shed their share prices by 6.25%, 4.76%, 4.55% and 4.24% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 33.59 million units of its shares in 230 deals, valued at N971.4 million.
