Nigerian Bourse sheds N12bn, closes 0.09% lower

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed in red as the All Share Index declined by 0.09% to close at 26,913.70 points against the previous close of 26,938.58 points on Wednesday.

 

Market capitalization closed at N12.990 trillion, shedding N12 billion from the previous close of N13.002 trillion on Wednesday.

  • Volume of traded stocks grew by 83.60% to close at 207.26 million units against the previous close of 112 million units.
  • Value of traded stocks grew by 164.26%, closing at N2.85 billion from the previous close of N1 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as only 8 stocks emerged on the gainer’s list while 19 stocks declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainer

Chams Plc led gainers chart, closing at 9.09% to close at N0.36 from the previous close of N0.33.

Union Diagnostics and Dangote Sugar among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.33% and 8.03% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Medview Air and Cornerstone Insurance both led the price decliners, shedding 10% of their share prices to close at N1.62 and N0.63 respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • UACN traded about 40.23million units of its shares in 159 deals, valued at N315.9 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 28.28 million units of its shares in 256 deals, valued at N260 million.
  • Guaranty Trust Bank traded about 27.73 million units of its shares in 174 deals, valued at N837.7 million.
