Nigerian Bourse gains, N146bn, closes 1.07% higher, Thursday

The Nigerian equities market for 6 straight trading days as been on the upward trend. So far since last week Thursday, the All Share Index has grown by 10.83%.

The All Share Index on Thursday grew by 1.07% to close at 31,477.51 points from the previous close of 31,145.15 points on Wednesday.

Market capitalisation closed at N13.864 trillion, gaining N146 billion from the previous close of N13.718 trillion.

Aggregate volume of traded stocks for the day was 559.76 million units, valued at N8.68 billion in 6,042 deals.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 14 stocks gained, while 24 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Law Union & Rock Insurance with 10% growth led 13 other gainers to close at N0.44 from the previous close of N0.40.

Japaul Oil, NAHCO and Beta Glass Plc also grew their share prices by 9.09%, 7.91% and 7.60% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Academy Press and Livestock Feeds among other price decliners both shed 10% of their share prices to close at N0.27 and N0.54 respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • MTN Nigeria traded about 34.23 million units of its shares, in 1600 deals, valued at N5.24 billion.
  • Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc traded about 280 million units of its shares, in 42 deals, valued at N64.6 million.
