Nigerian Bourse extends decline, closes 1.14% lower, Tuesday

The Nigerian Bourse on Tuesday closed in red as the All Share Index declined further by 1.14% to close at 31,173.71 points from the previous close of 31,533.50 points on Monday.

Market capitalisation declined by 1.14% to close at N11.381 trillion against the previous close of N11.512 trillion, thereby shedding N131 billion.

Volume and value of traded stocks grew by 73.77% and 41.85%, closing at N182.23 million units and N2.75 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed negative as 14 stocks gained against 23 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

 

Beta Glass led other percentage gainers, gaining 9.98% to close at N68.3 from the previous close of N62.1

Continental Reinsurance, CAP Plc, Cadbury and Wema Bank grew 9.68%, 9.39%, 5.98% and 5.56% respectively among other percentage gainers.

Percentage Losers

AG Leventis tops the losers’ chart, shedding 10% of its share price to close at N0.27 from the previous close of N0.3.

Forte Oil, PZ, Seplat and Prestige Assurance shed 9.90%, 9.83%, 9.61% and 9.41% of their share prices respectively among others on the losers’ chart.

Volume Drivers 

  • Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) traded about 37.94 million units of its shares valued at about N682.87 million in 43 deals.

 

  • Access Bank traded about 29.3 million units of its shares valued at about N212.25 million in 124 deals.
