Nigerian Bourse extends decline, closes 0.50% lower

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed in red as the All Share Index declined further by 0.50% to close at 30,885.31 points against the previous close of 31,040.84 points on Wednesday.

Market Capitalisation also declined by 0.50% to close at N11.518 trillion against the previous close of N11.576 trillion, thereby shedding N58 billion.

Aggregate volume and value of traded stocks closed at 250 million units and N2.43 billion respectively.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 24 stocks gained while 16 stocks lost.

Percentage Gainers

Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc with 10% growth led other gainers, closing at N0.22 from the previous close N0.20. This is followed by Ikeja Hotel and AIICO Insurance Plc which gained 9.62% and 9.23% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Skye Shelter Fund Plc tops the decliners’ list, shedding 10% of its share price to close at N85.50 from the previous close of N95.0.

Champions Breweries and ABC Transport among other price decliners also shed 9.68% and 9.26% of their share prices respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Access Bank traded the highest volume of the day with about 93.47 million units in 744 deals, valued at N638.54 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 30.75 million units of its shares in 390 deals, valued at N678.71 million.
