NGX reveals result of half- year review of market indices

Nigerian Exchange has announced the results of its full year market index review for the following indices – NGX 30; NGX Lotus Islamic; NGX Pension; NGX Pension Broad Index; Corporate Governance Index; Afrinvest Bank Value Index; Afrinvest Dividend Yield Index; Meristem Growth Index; Meristem Value Index; and the five Sectoral Indices of The Exchange – NGX Banking, NGX Insurance, NGX Industrial, NGX Consumer Goods and NGX Oil & Gas.

The review has led to the entry and exit of some companies from several indices which took effect at the open of the market on Tuesday, 1 July 2025. 

Below are the incoming and exiting companies in the various indices:

NGX 30 INDEX:

Incoming equities on NGX 30 includes: Aradel Holdings Plc and Wema Bank Plc. Conoil and Julius Berger have exited the NGX 30.

NGX CONSUMER GOODS INDEX:

Incoming equity on NGX Consumer Goods Index includes: McNichols Consolidated Plc. Golden Guinea Breweries Plc has been exited from the index.

NGX BANKING INDEX:

No equities have been added or exited from the NGX Banking Index

NGX INSURANCE INDEX:

Incoming equity on NGX Insurance Index includes LASACO Assurance Plc. While Fortis Global Insurance Plc and International Energy Insurance Plc have been exited from the index.

NGX INDUSTRIAL INDEX

Incoming equity on NGX Industrial Index is Austin Laz & Company Plc, while Notore Chemical Industries Plc has been exited from the index.

NGX OIL & GAS INDEX

No equities have been added or exited from the NGX Oil & Gas Index

AFRINVEST DIVIDEND YIELD INDEX

Incoming equities include: Access Holdings Plc, FCMB Group Plc and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. No equity have been exited from the index.

MERISTEM GROWTH INDEX

Incoming equities include: Wema Bank Plc, Chemical and Allied Products Plc and Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. While Fidelity Bank Plc, Transnational Corporation plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc have been exited from the index.

MERISTEM VALUE INDEX

Incoming equities include: United Bank for Africa Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc. While Julius Berger Nigeria Plc have been exited from the index.

Other market indices that remained unchanged include: NGX Pension Index, NGX Lotus Islamic Index, Corporate Governance Index, NGX Pension Broad Index and Afrinvest Bank Value Index respectively.

Designed using the market capitalization methodology, the indices are rebalanced on a semi-annual basis on the first business day in January and in July respectively.

 Abimbola Babalola (Head, Trading & Products) emphasized that NGX indices are developed, managed and rebalanced semi-annually to allow investors efficiently track market movements and properly manage investment portfolios.
