Market sheds N477bn as NGXASI closes lower by 1.95%

The equity market on Monday closed on a bearish note, as the All Share Index dropped by 1.95% to settle at 43,912.64 points from the previous close of 44,788.14 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 1.95% to close at N23.918 trillion from the previous close of N24.395 trillion, thereby shedding N477 billion.

An aggregate of 161 million units of shares were traded in 4,258 deals, valued at N3.47 billion.

The Market Breadth closed negative as 8 equities appreciated in their share prices against 19 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

NAHCO led other gainers with 9.88% growth to close at N5.67 from the previous close of N5.16.

COURTVILLE, Nem Insurance and Fidelity Bank among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.70%, 6.67% and 2.44% respectively.

Percentage Losers

International Breweries led other price decliners as it shed 9.78% of its share price to close at N4.15 from the previous close of N4.60.

Livestock Feeds, JAPAULGOLD and Ecobank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.73% and 9.68% and 9.55% respectively.

Volume Drivers

ACCESSCORP traded about 16.6 million units of its shares in 255 deals, valued at about N130 million.

Sterling Bank traded about 12 million units of its shares in just 139 deals, valued at N17.975 million.

Fidelity Bank traded about 12 million units of its shares in 152 deals, valued at N50 million.
