Market closes lower by 0.81% as MTN, Dangote Cement shed weight

The stock market on Thursday closed in red occasioned by losses in the share prices of MTN and Dangote Cement by 4.65% and 2.49% respectively.

The All Share Index depreciated by 0.81% to settle at 39,114.73 points from the previous close of 39,433.81 points

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.81% to close at N20.470 trillion from the previous close of N20.637 trillion, thereby shedding N167 billion.

An aggregate of 403.51 million units of shares were traded in 4,342 deals, valued at N4.8 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 25 equities appreciated in their share prices against 20 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

  • Conoil and Courtville Business Solution both led other gainers with 10% growth, closing at N18.70 and N0.22 respectively.
  • Seplat and Linkage Assurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.99% and 8.62% respectively.

Percentage Losers

  • BOC Gases Plc led other price decliners as it shed its share price by 9.99% to close at N12.25 from the previous close of N13.61.
  • Livestock Feeds and SCOA Nigeria Plc among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.90% and 9.66%.

Volume Drivers

  • Access Bank traded about 105.868 million units of its shares in 496 deals, valued at N844 million.
  • NEM Insurance traded about 38.679 million units of its shares in 23 deals, valued at N77.33 million.
  • FBNH traded about 35.406 million units of its shares in 219 deals, valued at about N258.66 million.
