Market closes lower by 0.03%, sheds N7bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Thursday closed on a bearish note as the All Share Index declined by 0.03% to close at 42,230.48 points from the previous close of 42,244.22 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.03% to close at N22.043 trillion from the previous close of N22.050 trillion, thereby shedding N7 billion.

An aggregate of 224.03 million units of shares were traded in 2,667 deals, valued at N2.66 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 14 equities emerged as gainers against 11 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Union Bank led other gainers chart with 10% growth, closing at N5.05 from the previous close of N4.60.

Royal Exchange and Mutual Benefit Assurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 7.14% and 6.67% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Julius Berger led other price decliners as as it sheds 9.88% of its share price to close at N22.35 from the previous close of N24.80.

UPDC and Sovereign Trust Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 5.60% and 4.00% respectively.  

Volume Drivers

UACN traded about 64.95 million units of its shares in 28 deals, valued at N617 million.

Sovereign Trust Insurance traded about 23.3 million units of its shares in 23 deals, valued at N5.48 million.

GTCO traded about 21.14 million units of its shares in 197 deals, valued at N549.57 million.
