Investors gain N50bn as equity market rises by 0.38%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index grew by 0.38% to settle at 25,236.97 points from the previous close of 25,141.48 points.

Investors gain N50 billion as Market Capitalisation grew by 0.38% to close at N13.165 trillion from the previous close of N13.115 trillion.

An aggregate of 258.08 million units of shares were traded in 3,636 deals, valued at N1.68 billion.

Market Breadth

The Market Breadth closed negative as 15 stocks gained against 18 stocks that declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

AXA Mansard led other percentage gainers with 9.66% growth, closing at N1.59 from the previous close of N1.45.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance, Unilever and Prestige Assurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.82%, 8.33% and 8.16% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

Ikeja Hotel led other price decliners as it shed 9.90% of its share price to close at N0.91 from the previous close of N1.01.

Academy Press, Champion Breweries and Unity Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.09%, 8.97% and 8.47% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Transcorp Plc traded about 105.5 million units of its shares in 206 deals, valued at N61.39 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 25.66 million units of its shares in 309 deals, valued at N429.95 million.
  • Chams Plc traded about 22.94 million units of its shares in 29 deals, valued at N4.83 million.
