Guinness Nigeria Plc completes sales of majority shares, announces board changes

Guinness Nigeria Plc has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public of the changes to its Board of Directors effective at the completion of the sale of the majority shares from Guinness Overseas Limited and Atalantaf Limited (Diageo) to Tolaram.

The following Board members have resigned: Adebayo Alli (Managing Director), Ms Joan Hodgins (Vice Chair & Non-Executive Director), Mrs Grainne Wafer (Non-Executive Director) and Mr Leo Breen (Non-Executive Director)

The new Board composition of Guinness Nigeria Plc with effect from 30th September, 2024 is as follows:

1. Dr Omobola Johnson – Board Chair & Independent Non-Executive Director

2. Mr Harkishin Aswani – Vice Chair & Non-Executive Director

3. Mr Girish Sharma – Managing Director (Executive)

4. Mr Emmanuel Difom – Finance & Strategy Director (Executive)

5. Mr Deepak Singhal – Non-Executive Director

6. Mr John Musunga – Non-Executive Director

7. Prof Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN – Independent Non-Executive Director

8. Ms Ngozi Edozien – Independent Non-Executive Director

9. Mrs Vivien Shobo – Independent Non-Executive Director

Girish Sharma (Managing Director)

Girish Sharma holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in India. He also holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Kent and has attended executive training programmes at Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the University of Cambridge focusing on leadership, sustainability, and business management.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of Tolaram’s joint venture with Colgate-Palmolive, in which role he has delivered a remarkable 70 percent compound annual growth rate in top-line revenue year-on-year in the 5-year period since the inception of the Colgate-Palmolive Tolaram joint venture. A seasoned business leader with over 20 years of experience in the consumer goods sector, he was previously Chief Operating Officer of the Tolaram company, Dufil, in which capacity he oversaw the growth of Tolaram’s flagship instant noodle brand, Indomie to a household name and market leader in Nigeria and Ghana.
