GLAXOSMITH’ Profit after Tax Jumps 26.97% in FY’18

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc manufactures, markets, and distributes a range of consumer healthcare and pharmaceutical products in Nigeria. The company operates in two segments, Consumer Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals. It offers consumer healthcare products, including oral healthcare products for family care, and sensitivity and bleeding gums; wellness products, such as pain management, and gastro-intestinal and respiratory health products, as well as multivitamins; and nutritional healthcare products comprising functional beverages and family nutritional products.

The company has released its audited 2018 full year results Which  revealed an advancement in turnover of N2.322 billion to close at N18.411 billion away from N16.089 billion, it closed in 2017  and the Profit before tax grew by  N35 million to arrive at N1.160.7 billion from 2017’s N1.124 billion, which represent 14.43% and 3.19%  growth respectively.

The company’s profit after tax (PAT) for the period under review stood at N617 million which is 26.97% above the N486 million reported last same period of 2017.

Consequently, the shareholders’ earnings per share of the company settled at N0.52 for the period under review when compared with N0.41 reported for the comparative period of 2017, which represents a growth of 26.97%.

As at when computed at a price of N10.80, Glaxosmith’s PE Ratio stood at 20.91x with about 4.78% earnings yield.

The health care company recommended   a dividend of 50k per 50 kobo ordinary share (composed of 36k from retained pioneer profits and 14k from after tax profit for the year ended 31 December 2018) subject to appropriate withholding tax and approval at the Annual General Meeting will be paid to Shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members as the close of business on the 22nd April 2019

. The Register of Members will be closed from Tuesday 23rd of April to Friday 3rd May, 2019.
