Equity market closes lower by 0.33%, sheds N44bn

The Nigerian equity market on Tuesday closed on a negative note as the All Share Index declined by 0.35% to settle at 25,497.32 points from the previous close of 25,582.23 points on Monday.

Market Capitalisation closed lower by 0.35% to settle at N13.302 trillion from the previous close of N13.346 trillion, thereby shedding N44bn.

An aggregate of 251.96 million units of shares were traded in 4,185 deals, valued at N2.04 billion.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed positive as 10 stocks appreciated in their share prices while 19 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Honeywell Flour led other gainers with 4.44% growth to close at N0.94 from the previous close of N0.90.

Transcorp Plc and Wapic Insurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 3.45% and 3.03% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Arbico Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.65% of its share price to close at N1.03 from the previous close of N1.14.

Royal Exchange and Guaranty Trust Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.09% and 6.18% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Custodian Investment traded about 40.13 million units of its shares in 67 deals, valued at N192.65 million.

FBN Holdings traded about 28.24 million units of its shares in 253 deals, valued at about N141.54 million.

Zenith Bank traded 26.04 million units of its shares in 476 deals, valued at N444.8 million.
