Equity market advances with N67bn gain

The Nigerian equity market on Wednesday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index grew further by 0.50% to settle at 25,783.02 points from the previous close of 25,654.90 points.

Investors gain N67 billion as market capitalisation appreciated by 0.50% to close at N13.475 trillion from the previous close of N13.408 trillion.

An aggregate of 414.16 million units of shares were traded in 3,793 deals, valued at N6.28 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 21 stocks gained while 14 stocks declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

International Breweries and Prestige Assurance both led other gainers with 9.09% growth, closing at N3.60 and N0.60 respectively.

Cornerstone Insurance and UAC Properties among other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.33% and 5.26% respectively.

Percentage Losers

ABC Transport led other price decliners as it shed 9.09% of its share price to close at N0.30 from the previous close of N0.33.

Royal Exchange, Eterna Plc and NPF Microfinance Bank among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.90%, 6.72% and 6.15% respectively.

Volume Drivers

  • Sterling Bank Plc traded about 85.20 million units of its shares in 49 deals, valued at N97.99 million.
  • FBN Holdings Plc traded about 82.74 million units of its shares in 275 deals, valued at N413.7 million.
  • Access Bank traded about 58.2 million units of its shares in 236 deals, valued at N366.7 million.
