Equities market opens the week with N36bn gain

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index rose by 0.29% to settle at 23,941.75 points from the previous close of 23,871.33 points.

Investors gain N36 billion as Market Capitalisation grew by 0.29% to close at N12.477 trillion from the previous close of N12.441 trillion.

Aggregate volume of 331 million units of shares were traded in 5,544 deals, valued at N2.93 billion.

 

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 25 equities appreciated in their share prices while 13 equities declined in their share prices.

 

Percentage Gainers

  • Okomu Oil led other percentage gainers with 9.99% growth, closing at N60.55 from the previous close of N55.05.
  • Neimeth Pharmaceuticals International, BOCGAS and Fidson Healthcare among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.72%, 9.59% and 9.12% respectively.

 

Percentage Losers

  • LASACO led other price decliners shedding 7.41% of its share price to close at N0.25 from the previous close of N0.27.
  • Cornerstone Insurance and Jaiz Bank both shed 6.78% of their share prices to both close at N0.55 respectively.
  • Wapic Insurance and Transcorp among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 6.25% and 4.17% respectively.

 

Volume Drivers

  • Access Bank traded about 83.56 million units of its shares in 229 deals, valued at N522.8 million.
  • Zenith Bank traded about 54.93 million units of its shares in 503 deals, valued at N842.87 million.
  • Sterling Bank traded about 33.65 million units of its shares in 898 deals, valued at N43.41 million.
