Dangote Sugar appoints Thabo Mabe as MD/CEO

The Board of Dangote Sugar Refinery has announced the appointment of Mr. Thabo Mabe as the Group Managing Director/CEO effective 1st December 2025. The appointment is on the backdrop of the resignation of the Group Managing Director/CEO (GMD), Mr. Ravindra Singhvi effective 30th November, 2025.

Mr. Thabo Mabe, is a South African national. He holds a BSc. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Fort Hare University, South Africa.

Mr. Mabe began his career at Unilever as a Graduate Trainee, serving in various capacities and gaining extensive cognitive experience across Manufacturing, Production, Sales, and Supply Chain Management. He rose to the position of Vice President, Supply Chain for Unilever HPC in 2004 and following the consolidation of Unilever’s HPC and Foods divisions, he became Vice President, Homecare, and in 2010 he was appointed to the Board of Directors and became the Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Nigeria Plc. During his tenure, he significantly expanded Unilever’s market share and optimized production line utilization, achieving substantial business growth.

Mr. Mabe joined the Dangote Group in 2014 as Managing Director/CEO of Dangote Flour Mills Plc., where he successfully transformed the company from a declining business into a highly profitable enterprise. Following the Group’s divestment from the flour business in 2019, he was seconded to Dangote Rice Limited as Managing Director. He was appointed Managing Director of NASCON Allied Industries Plc in 2022 until his current appointment as GMD/CEO, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.

He brings with him a wealth of international experience spanning South Africa, Germany, and Nigeria, and continues to make significant contributions to the Dangote Group’s food businesses. The appointment of Mr. Thabo Mabe as the GMD/CEO is in line with the Company’s Succession Plan and its commitment to ensuring seamless leadership continuity and sustained value creation for stakeholders.
