Dangote Sugar appoints Mulhim Eltayeb as Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Mulhim Eltayeb as an Executive Director of the Company, effective from 1st December 2025.

Mr. Mulhim Eltayeb holds a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Washington State University, USA, and a postgraduate certificate in Agribusiness from Middlesex University, UK. He is a highly accomplished and respected professional who brings more than 35 years of extensive experience in strategic and operational management, project delivery and consulting, with particular focus on the sugarcane agribusiness sector throughout Africa and globally.

Since the 1990s, Mr. Eltayeb has been involved in managing complex projects spanning multiple continents, including North and South America, Africa and Asia. In 2001, he joined Kenana Engineering and Technical Services (KETS) in Sudan and between 2007 and 2017, he served as General Manager of KETS. Under his leadership, KETS undertook numerous high-profile projects, concentrating on the development and modernization of sugarcane industry infrastructure, capacity building, and technical advisory services.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Eltayeb was the Chairman at KEPM Projects in Dubai, providing highlevel consulting and project management services within the sugarcane industry. In addition to his corporate roles, he serves as the Interim Executive Officer for the Africa Sugar Development Taskforce Initiative under the International Sugar Organization (ISO) collaborating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and development partners to promote policies and programs that strengthen the sugar sector across Africa.

From January 2024 and till his appointment, Mr. Eltayeb was the Sugar Backward Integration Program Advisor to Dangote Industries Limited, providing strategic guidance on business improvement and project implementation within the Group’s sugarcane operations.

Mr. Eltayeb has shared his insights at international conferences and forums on sugar industry development, agribusiness strategy, and innovative approaches to overcoming challenges such as climate change, resource management, and market volatility whilst emphasizing the importance of collaboration, technology adoption, industry diversification, and policy support.

Mr. Eltayeb will be the Executive Director in charge of Backward Integration Program (BIP) Operations providing strategic guidance on business improvement and project implementation within the Company’s BIP and is committed to advancing sector development and fostering sustainable growth within the sugar industry.
