Dangote regains position as Africa’s richest

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group has regained his position as Africa’s richest man.

His net worth currently stands at $15.6 billion, putting him ahead of South Africa’s Johann Rupert, a South African, who last month reportedly toppled him with the net worth of $13.3 billion.  

According to Bloomberg, Dangote is the only Nigerian on its list of the top 500 billionaires. 

Other Africans listed in the latest top 500 world billionaires list for this year are Johann Rupert; Nicky Oppenheimer ($ 9 billion) and Natie Kirsh ($7.37 billion).  Oppenheimer and Kirsh are also South Africans.

Nassef Sawiris and Naguib Sawiris (Egyptians) are worth $7.47 billion and $5. 93 billion respectively.
