The 25th Adetunji Ogunkanmi Memorial Lecture which was held on Friday, December 5, 2025 featuring top personality and stakeholders from the insurance sector to discuss on life, time, impact, achievement and legacy left behind by the founder of Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Late Adetunji Ogunkanmi.
The symposium with the theme: Beyond Insurance: Building resilience, health and Legacy. The event which was put together by friends, associates, and Cornerstone Insurance, ambassadors, past and present team, with the aim to mark the remembrance of Late Adetunji Ogunkanmi, founder of Cornerstone Insurance Plc, who passed away on November 5, 2000.
Funmi Babington – Ashaye, Chairman, Board of Trustee (BoT) Adetunji Ogunkanmi Foundation delivered the opening speech, declared that the annual gathering is to reflect on the enduring legacy of Late Adetunji Ogunkanmi whichn he championed while he was alive.
She delivered her speech on the theme: Beyond Insurance: Building Resilience, Health and Legacy.
‘We live in an era defined by uncertainty, Adekanmi Ogunkanmi rose through determination, unwavering commitment to establish Cornerstone Insurance Plc”, she stated.
The late insurer as a man with vision, courage and commitment, left a footprint of innovation, generosity, integrity, and service to humanity. His memory continues to inspire every, member of Cornerstone family and the Insurance circle in general.
The Managing Director/CEO of Cornerstone Insurance, Stephen Alangbo thanked the pioneer member of Cornerstone Insurance Plc for supporting and embracing the ideas laid by Late Adekanmi Ogunkanmi during the lifetime of the late founder.
According to Stephen Alangbo the founder actually wanted to build an industry that will stand a test of time to come.
Speaking on the theme, he encouraged every participant to have a standard life and not substandard which is considered as a life without sound health.
He envisioned a Cornerstone Insurance having and bringing innovation similar to fintech.
Stephen Alangbo urged individuals to engage in physical exercise or rather fitness training to reduce the emergence of health issues
In term of legacy, he narrated how the late founder has impact on people’s lives while he was alive.
He begged every individual to live a life of impact, that touches peoples lives, having the consciousness of what people will after passing away. He encourages everyone to build transferable assets.
