Buhari-led FG speaks on Nigeria’s debt profile

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the country’s rising debt profile is sustainable.

Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma assured Nigerians that they have nothing to worry about the country’s rising debt profile.

He gave the assurance while addressing State House Correspondent after the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Udoma said the country can sustain its debt even though it has a revenue challenge.

He disclosed that the administration was working on ways to help make the country’s revenue generation better.

According to Udoma: “Our debts are sustainable. We do have a revenue challenge and we are focusing on that. Once therevenues come up, it will be obvious that we don’t have a debt problem at all.

“We are looking at initiatives to widening the tax pays. We are looking at initiatives to increase efficiency in collections.

“We are looking at a single window, which will help to increase efficiency, customs collections. We are looking at many different ways to improve revenues.”
