If the heart was heavier than the feather of Maat, the scales deviated in an unfavorable direction for the person, and the soul went to hell in its Egyptian version, so that the grave sins would come out of it with sweat and blood. Later in Christianity, this place was called "purgatory".
The minuscule size of conscience and prudence in a person's life can cause a feeling similar to weighing a heart on a scale with an ostrich feather. The first part of Jung's individualization corresponds to this myth. Here, the process of educating a dark personality is perceived as a modern Maat, revealing dark spots in the subconscious of every person.
