Stock market advances by 0.09%, investors gain N23bn

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Market on Friday closed on a positive note as the All Share Index advanced by 0.09% to close at 49,695.12 points from the previous close of 49,652.25 points.

Investors gained N23 billion as the Market Capitalisation grew by 0.09% to close at N26.805 trillion from the previous close of N26.782 trillion.

An aggregate of 319 million units of shares were traded in 3,335 deals, valued at N1.9 billion.

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed negative as 10 equities appreciated in their share prices against 16 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Nem Insurance led other gainers with 7.62% growth, closing at N5.65 from the previous close of N5.25.

CHAMS and FCMB among other gainers also grew their share prices by 6.90% and 6.06% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Honeywell Flour led other price decliners as it shed 10% of its share price to close at N2.25 from the previous close of N2.50.

LEARNAFRICA and Linkage Assurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 8.91% and 7.69% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Sterling Bank traded about 173.8 million units of its shares in 53 deals, valued at about N281 million.

UBA traded 54 million units of its shares in 216 deals, valued at N400.6 million.

Zenith Bank traded about 14 million units of its shares in 343 deals, valued at 281 million.
