Stock market dips by 0.25% as BUA Cement sheds weight

The stock market on Monday closed on a bearish note, occasioned by 2.94% loss in the share price of BUA Cement.

The All Share Index declined by 0.25% to close at 38,864.33 points from the previous close of 38,962.28 points.

The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.25% to close at N20.249 trillion from the previous close of N20.300 trillion, thereby shedding N51 billion.

An aggregate of 139.45 million units of shares were traded in 3,539 deals, valued at N1.71 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 20 equities emerged as gainers against 12 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

University Press led other gainers with 9.80% growth to close at N1.12 from the previous close of N1.02.

Transcorp Hotel, Courtville and Oando among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.70%, 9.37% and 6.07% respectively.

Percentage Losers

AXA Mansard led other price decliners as it shed 9.94% of its share price to close at N2.99 from the previous close of N3.32.

Chams Plc and Sovereign Trust Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 4.35% and 4.00% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Sovereign Trust Insurance traded about 19.08 million units of its shares in 44 deals, valued at N4.395 million.

Fidelity Bank traded about 11.85 million units of its shares in 85 deals, valued at N29 million.

GTCO traded about 11.15 million units of its shares in 271 deals, valued at N307.08 million.
